Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic Board of Directors
André Hintermann: President. Mr. Hintermann is a retired banker. He became a full time resident of the United States in 2001 and received approval for full citizenship here in 2012. He was a longtime financial supporter of the Madison Free Clinic and the initial financial sponsor of and served as a director of the Orange County Free Clinic and a director from 2007 to 2012. He founded and was the initial financial sponsor of the Piedmont Regional Dental Clinic and has served as Chairman of the Board. He purchased the building that houses both the Free Clinic and the Dental Clinic and has put this asset in a charitable family foundation to benefit the community in perpetuity. Affiliation: retired.
Karen Allen: Karen Allen is long time resident of Madison County. She began her teaching career in Madison in 1975 and taught 7th grade for 19 years. In 1994 after receiving her graduate degree she became the principal of Waverly Yowell Elementary School in Madison. Karen retired at the end of the 2014/2015 school year and was subsequently elected to the Madison County School Board. Karen lives with her husband Dave in Shelby. They have one daughter who lives and works in Northern Virginia. Currently, Karen is a member of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club of Madison County. She is a past member of the Madison County Library Board, the Madison County Women’s Club Board and Madison County Optimist Club’s Board.
Mitchell H. Bernstein: Mitch Bernstein retired from the practice of law in 2014, following a 40 year career spent primarily in Washington, DC. Mr. Bernstein graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, summa cum laude, in 1970 and from Yale Law School in 1973. Mr. Bernstein served in the Office of General Counsel of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency from 1977-1981, after which he went into private practice advising clients regarding their compliance obligations under various federal and state environmental statutes, and representing them in cleanup negotiations under the federal Superfund law at numerous hazardous waste disposal sites across the country. Mr. Bernstein and his wife Barbara have owned their home in the community of Graves Mill (Madison County) since 1986, and are now full-time residents.
Tegwyn Brickhouse, DDS, PhD:Dr. Brickhouse is Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Pediatric Dentistry, School of Dentistry, Virginia Commonwealth University.
Shannon Butler, DDS: Dr. Butler is a 1995 graduate of the Medical College of Virginia’s School of Dentistry. She has worked as a dentist in Culpeper for 14 years. Dr. Butler is a member of the Culpeper Rotary Club, the Farmington Elementary School Parent-Teacher Organization, and Culpeper Presbyterian Church. She and her husband Tripp reside in Culpeper with their two children. Dr. Butler volunteered for the MOM project and represents Culpeper interests on the Board of Directors.
Kim Isringhausen, RDH, MPH: Mrs. Isringhausen is Chair of Oral Health Promotion and Community Outreach, School of Dentistry, Virginia Commonwealth University.
Rebecca Pousson, RDH, MBA: Mrs. Pousson is Executive Associate Dean and President of VCU Dental Care.
C. Richard Powers, CPA: Board Treasurer. C. Richard Powers has practiced public accounting in Culpeper since 1990 as a sole practitioner. His practice consists primarily of providing bookkeeping, payroll tax, and income tax services to small local business, and income tax return preparation services to individuals in the Culpeper, Orange and Madison area. Prior to 1990 Richard worked for several years as the controller for a local Culpeper construction firm, and prior to that was employed as a staff accountant with a regional accounting firm in Richmond. Mr. Powers has served on the Board of Directors of the Full Circle Thrift Store and of the Culpeper Music Society, both located in Culpeper, for several years. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech in 1971.
Thomas Reynolds, MD: Dr. Reynolds is Chief Medical Officer of UVA Culpeper Hospital. Dr. Reynolds has worked as a family medicine provider with UVA Primary Care Culpeper Family Practice for 34 years. He stepped down from his role as associate medical director for the University of Virginia Physicians Group in Culpeper to take this role. He was voted Doctor of the Year in 2010 at Culpeper Regional Hospital.
David Sarrett, DMD, DDS: Dr. Sarrett is Dean, School of Dentistry, Virginia Commonwealth University.
Jack Thompson, Jr., DDS: Vice President and Director of Dental Services, PRDC. He graduated from MCV School of Dentistry in 1968. Dr. Thompson completed a general dentistry residency with the USAF and served in the USAF Dental Corps on active duty. He has practiced dentistry in Gordonsville for almost 40 years and maintains his license. He is a life member of the American Dental Association and the Virginia Dental Association and past member of the Charlottesville Albemarle Dental Society and Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Thompson served as Dental Director for the first Piedmont Regional Mission of Mercy project. He volunteers his time to provide medically necessary extractions for the Orange County Free Clinic. He is responsible for all dental operations of the PRDC and represents Orange County on PRDC Board of Directors. Affiliation: Semi-retired from private practice.
